| The Sheyenne Valley Trail West is located south of Jamestown and Valley City ND. The trail has 300+ miles of groomed trails. There is a wide variety of riding in this system. The trail follows the Sheyenne River bottom and the James River. It also has ditch riding, shelter belts, and wide open fields. The trail goes through many small towns. From Jamestown to Marion you go through Ypsilanti, Montpelier, Adrian and Dickey. The trail from Marion to Lisbon goes through Litchville, Hastings, Kathryn, Fort Ransom and on to Lisbon. This takes you through the Fort Ransom State Park and also a park called Little Yellowstone. The trail also goes from Litchville to Sanborn to Valley City, back to Kathryn for another loop. From Lisbon to Oakes you go through Engelvale and Verona. From Oakes you can go to Ludden, LaMoure, Grand Rapids, and on to Dickey. This system travels through the James River and Sheyenne River Valleys and has two warming houses. Several other stops are located along the way for you to warm up or relax as you enjoy riding this very attractive trail system. The Sheyenne Valley Trail Association West consists of 5 clubs in this area: Jim River Driftskippers of Jamestown, Sheyenne Sno-Drifters of Valley City and Sanborn, Ransom County Driftskippers of Lisbon and Fort Ransom, Marion Sno Riders of Marion and LaMoure, and the Sno-Busters of Oakes. The trails are groomed with 2 state owned SnoCat Tuckers. |
