Think snow!!!

The Sakakawea Trail System is in the northwest corner of North Dakota. This system has two independent trail systems which travel to Lake Sakakawea. Williston, which is the north system, travels southeast along the shore of Lake Sakakawea for about 16 miles, turns north for 4 miles and then turns west to complete a loop. The north system is about 23 miles long and is marked and groomed by a DMC groomer.

Watford City is the south system of this trail.  This trail system has two sections which do not connect.  The first section starts 2 miles east of Watford City and travels northeast to the shore of Lake Sakakawea totaling in 30 miles of trail.  The second trail system starts southeast of Watford City and travels through parts of the Badlands which creates a beautiful and scenic snowmobile trail. This trail is 55 miles long and travels to the Little Missouri River where it starts a loop back to Watford City.  The trail travels through the scenic Little Missouri River up to the eastern edge of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  Both of these trails are marked and groomed by a DMC groomer.  There are two clubs involved with this trail system which include the Williston Trail Riders and the Prairie Ramblers of Watford City.
